Our Perspective
Boqueria brings an energetic Spanish tapas experience to Atlanta’s burgeoning Colony Square multi-use destination in the heart of the city’s Midtown neighborhood. Boqueria tapped notable designer Alexa Nafisi of Adean Studios to bring the concept to life. Remaining true to the aesthetic ethos of the established brand, Adean set out to create a high energy, transportive space that’s industrial at its core. Incorporating everyday utilitarian details and functional materials, Adean mindfully created a timeless space meant to naturally patina as the years go by. Boqueria nods to the European modernism of the 1940s revealing an innately Old World charm. Clean lines and geometries are softened by subtle curves and lush foliage while warm lighting emits an amber glow throughout the space. Traditional Spanish marketplace elements have a strong presence as seen in authentic merchandise and product artfully displayed in designated areas. An open kitchen seamlessly connects the front and back of house while an expansive patio lounge spills out from the 5,000-square foot space. Decorative metalwork and architectural arcade elements reminiscent of Spain’s landmark Mercado de San Miguel anchor Boqueria with large archways defining each of the rooms. An elegant, dark color palette is juxtaposed with vibrant reds that are signature to the brand while custom pieces are incorporated in nearly every design element from tabletops and bar stools to lighting including striking suspended chandeliers with ribbed glass, antique brass and blackened steel and thoughtfully designed banquette seating.
